Who is Playing our Amps

BUDDY GUY

We at Chicago Blues Box amplifiers are proud to have Buddy Guy play through the new SESSION amps. Thanks to Mark Messner (the best road tech in the business, and road tech for Buddy Guy) we were presented with a challenge to produce the ultimate amplifier for Buddy Guy. After about 8 months of research and prototyping, Mark presented Buddy with these amps for his 16 sold out concert series shows at the Legends club in Chicago. Buddy was quoted as saying "now thats how a guitar is supposed to sound" to "thats my tone". On January 15th I had the privledge of seeing Buddy play and I too was impressed with the harmonics and sweet tone that Buddy was able to milk from these amps, not to mention the controlled feedback he achieved from anywhere on the stage. One patron noticed us in the club and had this to say, "I've been coming to see Buddy Guy for 15 years and in all that time I have never heard his sound be better, its the best I've heard". We receive e-mails and comments daily concerning these new amps that people are seeing Buddy play through. One such e-mail came from a blues player in the UK who flew over to see Buddy play for three nights at Legends, I was very impressed with Buddy's sound, probably the best I have heard, actually!" Thanks to Mark Messner for his confidence in us and being instrumental in the process and also lending us his ear in helping to put the final tweeks on this amp, Mark Messner "I know what Buddy is looking for in his tone and you nailed it" Thanks Mark! And I can't say enough to Buddy himself for Dig'n the Chicago Blues Box vibe, Thanks Buddy Guy!!!!!!!

Ric Hall (Buddy Guy Band)

Ric Hall hooked up with Chicago Blues Box amps in January of 2005 and used a Roadhouse 4x10 and a Kingston30 for the Buddy Guy concert series at Buddy Guy's Legends Club. In March the band hits the road for a long road tour. Ric will be using a Roadhouse 2x12 and a Kingston30 for the tour. We are proud to have our amps on the same stage with Ric, Buddy, and Guests of the Buddy Guy Band.

Omar Dykes (Omar and the Howlers)

Omar was touring in Germany when we shipped his Roadhouse 4x10 down to his manager in Texas. This was back in early 2004. We recieved a call from Omar when he returned, Omar was extremely happy with the new amp. His comment about the amp, "I've been playing Super Reverb amps for 30 years and its taken them that long to sound right, the Chicago Blues Box Roadhouse amp sounds like 30 years of tone built in, right out of the box". Later in the year Omar placed an order for a Kingston30 and has been using the Kingston30 to gig with on all his shows. He also has a Kingston18 on order, Thanks for digging our vibe Omar!

Henry Garza (Los Lonley Boys)

Back in the summer of 2004 we recieved word from Henry's management (Loophole entertainment) that Henry was interested in demoing the Roadhouse amp. We set up a time when the band would be in town and met with Henry and his tech during sound check at the Park West in Chicago. Henry liked the amp, and jokingly said "you'll never see this one again". And, we never have seen that amp. Again, joking around with his tech Henry said he would squeeze it on the bus and in the bunk if he had to. The Last word we recieved from Henry's tech and management team is that along with other amps, the Roadouse 4x10 was being used in the studio to record the bands next cd. NOTE: Henry does not endorse Chiacgo Blues Box amps but we are proud that Henry has a Chicago Blues Box in his tone arsenal.

Bart Alonzo (Bart Alonzo Band)

Bart is an incredible musician. He is a native of the Chicago area and plays local to the Chicago and Chicago suburban area's. Bart picked up his first Chicago Blues Box in early winter of 2004. Bart plays through a Halsted model. The Halsted was being built along with the flagship model Roadhouse and at the time were the only two amps we made. He gave up his Fender Deluxe Reverb amp in favor of the Halsted model. His Halsted model is used every weekend and as Bart would say "it gets used and abused daily" . This is Barts second Halsted as the first met with disasteroues misfortune. Here is Barts story that I'm sure every musician out there can relate to. Over the summer bart was transporting his gear to a gig when the unthinkable happened, his rear hatch popped open and by time he relalized what had happened, his gear was tossed down 3 miles of highway. As he gathered what gear he could find, a semi truck came clipping along and scooped the Halsted up underneath the cab. Sparks spewing forth from under the cab the truck and amp continued down the road and the Halsted was never seen again. Bart watched in disbelief. But, like any great musician does, he got right back up and got himself another Halsted. Anyone out there come across a pulverized Halsted amp?

Anthony Gomes

I met Anthony in the bands early days back in Chicago. Anthony returned after moving to Nashville and I met up with him at Chord On Blues in St. Charles IL. I presented Anthony with the very first 4x10 Chicago Blues Box. It was purple with no logo's, hand wired, and as prototype amps go, it was a little rough around the edges. The color purple was born from one of the post cards Anthony had sent out as a promo. In it, he is pictured wearing a long tailed purple suite. Purple seemed to be the right fit for Anthony's stage presence at the time. He later nick named the amp his "purple barney" amp. The amp was the first version of what would come to be the Roadhouse 4x10 combo. I think Anthony toured for about 6 months with it and called to say he needed a back-up amp, so I built another. The rest is history. The decision was made to continue to build custom amps. Several revisions later, the 4x10 purple amp as pictured here on stage left is the Flagship of the Chicago Blues Box line. Also pictured with Anthony on stage are 3 early version Kingston amps. A special thanks go out to Mr. Gomes for bearing with these amps during the prototype years. He will always be a very good friend to Chicago Blues Box.

Bryan Austin

Brayn AustinByan Playing Roadhouse

Bryan hooked up with Chicago Blues Box back in the later part of 2007. He plays and records with a Roadhouse 4x10. The guitar in the picture is a custom Monroe from Monroe Guitars. We at Chiacgo Blues Box are excited to have have our amps played by some of the best pro players on the circuit.
